Poker: A Game of Emotions

About US

Richard A. Lacey, Ed.D.

“You can run, but you can’t hide from a poker face reader!"
That’s the slogan that Dr. Richard A. Lacey adopted when he mastered the Eastern (Chinese) and Western scientific research-based systems of reading faces. He devoted four years to developing the Poker Face Reader system with Sherry Lane and leads seminars and workshops to train poker players.

His professional background includes advanced degrees from Yale and the University of Massachusetts in humanistic psychology and Jungian typology. Dr. Lacey became one of the first certified practitioners of the famous Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, which he uses to classify individual poker opponents.

Sherry Lane

Sherry Lane combined the work of modern psychologists to develop, test, and teach the Poker Face Reader system.   As a professional face reader and artist living and working in New York City, she has produced nearly 200,000 caricatures and has been published in popular magazines, books and corporate collections. With guidance from her mentor, Dr. Timothy Mar, master Chinese physiognomist (face reader), she acquired her specialized knowledge and skills underlying the Poker Face Reader system. With Dr. Richard Lacey, she also studied the psychology of micro- expressions—a research-based system of interpreting emotions in facial expressions developed by evolutionary psychologist Paul Ekman.
